Job Description
The Senior Accountant at First Solar Inc. in Malaysia is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of the company. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the financial planning and analysis functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with local and international accounting standards.
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for business decisions.
General Ledger Management:
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts.
Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
Conduct periodic audits and reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor and report on budget variances.
Provide financial analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Compliance and Taxation:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
Prepare and file tax returns and other regulatory filings.
Liaise with external auditors and tax authorities as needed.
Internal Controls:
Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes and controls.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions.
Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
Manage cash flow and working capital requirements.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
Provide training and support to ensure the team’s professional growth and development.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Financial Systems:
Maintain and improve financial systems and software.
Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data and reports.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
